Who must train? All individuals involved in the care and/or use of live vertebrate animals must be appropriately trained to conduct activities.
Certificates of completion do not need to be submitted to the IACUC. The IACUC Administrator evaluates all required training completions electronically.
I. IACUC Training Requirements: For IACUC protocol approval, all personnel named on the protocol must complete:
1. CITI Modules:

b) Post Approval Monitoring (PAM)
2. Enrollment in the Auburn University Occupational Health and Safety Program (OHSP)
Individuals need to be enrolled by their supervisor, PI, or Lab Manager in the OHS Program BioRAFT.
II. Completing CITI ACU Training:

CITI Instructions – Animal Users
2. Previously Registered CITI Users:

b) Add ACU training: Follow guidance on https://cws.auburn.edu/ovpr/pm/compliance/CITI-SSO. Click on “Add Course or Update Learner Groups” and add Animal Care and Use courses.
3. Training Maintenance: CITI ACU training must be completed every five (5) years.
III. Completing Additional Training:
In addition to required ACU training, CITI offers training modules on the humane care and use of many species of animals and activities that are related to the care of these animals.
The Principal Investigator (PI) is responsible for ensuring all training and OHSP requirements are completed by all personnel on the protocol. OHSP records will be maintained in the OHSP database, but ACU training documentation should be maintained by the PI and readily available for review by IACUC inspectors and/or other appropriate entities.
